I’m truly honoured to receive the 2026 Volunteer Excellence Award. To be presented with this recognition by the Lieutenant Governor made the moment especially meaningful, and I accept it with deep gratitude and humility.
This recognition means a great deal to me, but it also reminds me that volunteerism is bigger than any one person. Across our communities, countless individuals quietly show up, help others, and make life better for those around them. Their work may not always be seen, but its impact is real and lasting.

I am mindful that accolades carry weight, and this recognition brings with it a renewed responsibility to our community. For me, this isn’t a final destination, but another beginning—a fresh chapter in my commitment to service.
I hope this moment encourages more people to step forward and get involved. You do not need to be extraordinary to make a difference. You need to care enough to begin. Volunteerism is one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in our communities, build connections, and create a stronger future together.
Let’s continue to serve, uplift others, and lead with generosity.
PS: My sincere thanks to Jay Chowdhury and the U-turn Project for organizing such a special event and for bringing so many inspiring volunteers together in one room. Being surrounded by people who give so generously of their time, energy, and heart was a powerful reminder of what community leadership really looks like.
